Every summer more than 5500 tennis players in the wider Canterbury region under the age of 18 are enjoying one of the world's most popular games. In the Christchurch urban area around 60 grades of junior interclub take place each weekend, with participation grades on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning and elite "Challenger” grades on Sunday mornings.

Canterbury Tennis stages 5 major junior tournaments each year in addition to an ITF (International Tennis Federation) under 18 event and a number of Tennis New Zealand National age group tournaments.
